Evacuation Training
30 May 2024
We carried out a mock evacuation of our manufacturing plant recently. It’s something that we do, so that everyone is ready and well prepared if a major incident ever arises.
We also build in realistic scenarios so that our Emergency Support Team of Fire Wardens and First Aiders are fully utilised and get experience in handling situations in amongst the busyness of an evacuation. In this instance a colleague had not been accounted for on Roll Call, so a team went to look for him, found that he could not walk due to an ‘injured ankle’ and removed him using an evacuation chair.
Looking after potentially hundreds of colleagues when an incident occurs is a big responsibility, and we are fortunate to have an evacuation plan which is well rehearsed, works and, in this instance, was executed and overseen superbly by the Incident Controller on that day, James Duff, and our Emergency Support Team.
At Faltec Europe Ltd our number 1 priority is keeping all our colleagues, contractors and visitors safe, and evacuation practice forms part of what we do to achieve this.
